# The Abundance Portal: My 8/8 Lion's Gate Money Ritual
There's a version of manifestation culture that treats money rituals like a vending machine — insert crystal, receive cash. That's not what this was.
This was about building a physical, visual anchor for an intention I've been circling for weeks: “safety creates expression, and expression unfurls wealth” Not forced. Not hustled. Grown.
I set this up today, on August 8th — the Lion's Gate Portal — because the timing mattered to me. 8/8 carries a double dose of the number 8: the numerology of abundance and infinite flow, paired with the astrological alignment of Sirius, the sun, and Leo season. Whether or not you hold that framework, there's something to be said for choosing a date and letting it raise the stakes on your own follow-through.
✨Building the Altar
I didn't start with a plan so much as a felt sense — sacral response over strategy. Piece by piece, using what I already owned, the altar built itself:
The centerpiece was a copper pillar candle. Copper draws and magnetizes — it's a conductor in the physical world, so it felt right as a conductor in this one too. I carved my intention into the wax before lighting, using a pencil printed with my own name, then anointed the candle from the middle outward with the last drops of a manifesting oil I'd been saving.
✨The base was a heat-safe ceramic plate resting on a live-edge wood slice — structure and grounding underneath the working.
✨Around the candle, I built a ring: pink Himalayan salt for grounding, dried rosemary and holy basil for protection and purification, a light dusting of gold powder for pure prosperity symbolism. Nothing was random — every ingredient had a job.
✨On the plate itself, nestled into the ring: a raw citrine chunk, a tiger's eye sphere, and a gold key.
✨Beneath the wood slice, quietly doing the heaviest lifting: a gold-plated million dollar bill, that I picked up at Asheville Raven and Crone. Everything else was, in a sense, built on top of money itself.
✨Flanking the whole altar, a pair of gold guardian lions, a Sri Yantra pyramid meru, a raw pyrite cluster, and — at the very front, closest to me — a small gold dragon curled around a stack of coins. In feng shui, dragons and coins together are a classic pairing for wealth and protection, and I didn't plan that layering on purpose. It just felt right when I placed it, which might be the whole point.
✨Why It Wasn't "Too Much"
Partway through, I asked myself if I'd overdone it. Looking at the finished altar, I don't think so — and here's the distinction I landed on: a lot of objects isn't the same as clutter. Clutter are things competing for attention with no relationship to each other. This had a center — the lit candle — and everything else existed in relationship to it. A hierarchy, not a pile.

🌀What I'm Taking From This
The ritual itself isn't the magic. The magic is what it unfurls: sitting down, naming what I actually want in plain language, and giving myself permission to want it out loud. Everything else — the copper, the gold, the timing — is scaffolding for that moment of honesty.
Whatever you're building toward, you don't need my exact list. You need your own version of a pause that's specific enough to hold your attention and honest enough to mean something.
